North Dakota's at large district has a population of 773,344 (2021). The biggest city in North Dakota is Fargo - the home of North Dakota State University (NDSU) - with a population of 128,000. North Dakota's capitol city, Bismarck, has a population of 75,000. There are multiple universities located in Bismarck including the United Tribes Technical College (UTTC) where the United Tribes International Powwow is held every year. The Capitol building in Bismarck is 19 stories tall and has been named "The Skyscraper on the Prairie".

In the 2020 Presidential Election, 65.5% of North Dakotans voted for Donald Trump and 31.9% of North Dakotans voted for Joe Biden. As the chairman of the North Dakota GOP during the 2020 election, Representative Armstrong led the charge for getting Donald Trump elected.
