Previous Elected Experience
In 2012, Armstrong won a spot in the North Dakota State Senate, representing District 36. During his time in the Senate, he served on the Judiciary Committee, the Justice Reinvestment Committee, and the Energy and Natural Resources Committee. He also served as the Chairman of the North Dakota GOP starting in 2015 where he led the North Dakota Republican party through Donald Trump's presidential election, the election of Governor Burgum, and the addition of multiple Republican seats to the North Dakota legislature.
Tenure in the House of Representatives
Kelly Armstrong was elected to North Dakota's House of Representatives in 2019 as the state's only Representative. He ran against Democratic candidate Mac Schneider and won with 54% of the vote. Armstrong has served two terms in the House and is not planning to run again as he is looking to replace Doug Burgum as North Dakota's new governor.
